The Brill family have been farming for over 130 years. The existing site at Peterley, owned by Roger & Jane Brill, has been gradually built over 30 years into what is today a thriving Farm Shop, Pick Your Own, Cafe, Nursery, and Christmas tree farm. Find out more about their history below.
The timeline
OUR JOURNEY SO FAR
1880's
E Brill & Sons was started by Roger’s great grandfather, Edward Brill. They were mixed farmers who farmed pigs as well as growing fruit and vegetables at their farm in Maidenhead.
1977
Roger started studying Horticulture at Writtle College where his passion for horticulture and farming developed.
1982
Roger and Jane bought the Peterley site, a derelict poultry farm and started selling fruit and vegetables from the farm gate.
2014
Roger and Jane’s eldest daughter, Katy, joined the business and set up the Wild Strawberry Café on the farm. Originally destined as a ‘pop-up’ café in the yurt, it actually stayed for 7 years!
2017
Our first Feast on the Farm was held at the farm. A showcase of the outstanding food in the Chilterns.
2024 & BEYOND
2018
Roger and Jane’s youngest daughter, Pip, joined the business helping to oversee the farm shop as well as working alongside Katy to develop the business.
GROWTH
2019
The farm shop won ‘Best Farm Shop in the Chilterns’ in The Chiltern Society awards.
2021
The new barn kitchen café was built on the farm, partly funded by EU grant money.
2022
The Barn Kitchen won Best Café in Bucks & Oxon in the Muddy Stilettos Awards.
The café then went on to win the Best Café in the Muddy Stilettos National Awards. A huge achievement after only a year in operation!
2023
The Farm Shop won Best Farm Shop in Bucks/Oxon in the Muddy Stilettos Awards.
