About Us:
Peterley Manor Farm is a 40-acre horticultural farm located in the heart of Buckinghamshire. We are an award-winning farm shop and café, proud of our sustainable farming practices and the fresh, high-quality produce we grow. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Horticultural Farm Worker to join our dedicated team and help us maintain and expand our operations.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Farm Worker to undertake a wide range of duties across our farm. This role will involve working with both machinery and hands-on tasks to maintain the farm, tend to crops, and ensure overall maintenance of the site. The ideal candidate will have practical farm experience, an interest in horticulture, and a positive attitude towards hard work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tractor Work: Operating farm machinery, including tractors, ploughs, and other essential equipment for soil preparation, seeding, and cultivation.
- Crop Spraying: Safely operating crop spraying machinery to ensure healthy growth and pest control.
- Ploughing & Cultivation: Preparing fields for planting, including ploughing and preparing soil for crops
- Grass Cutting & Maintenance: Maintaining grassed areas on the farm, including mowing and strimming.
- Site Maintenance: General upkeep of the farm, including maintaining fences, paths, gates, drainage, and buildings. Minor repairs and improvements as needed
- Health & Safety: Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining clean and safe working conditions at all times.
- General Farm Duties: Supporting other farm operations as required, including helping with farm events or special projects.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in Horticulture or Agriculture: Previous experience working on a farm, particularly in a horticultural environment, is highly desirable.
- Machinery Operation: Competence in operating farm machinery such as tractors, mowers, ploughs, and sprayers.
- Telehandler and chainsaw licences are desirable but training can also be organised.
- Spray qualifications (PA1, PA2 and PA6) are desirable.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake physically demanding tasks.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a small, friendly team.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for quality and a focus on maintaining high standards.
- Full Driving License: A full, clean driving license is essential; a trailer license is desirable.
