Job Title: Assistant Retail Manager

Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Retail Manager to join our growing team in the Farm Shop. The successful applicant will support the Retail Manager in the day-to-day running of the farm shop, with a focus on exceptional customer service, deli and cheese counter expertise and fresh produce management. We want someone to come with fresh ideas, a strong work ethic and desire to ensure both smooth daily operations and promote the farm values and high quality standards. As passion for high quality, seasonal and artisan food and drink is essential.
We are looking for someone to work a minimum of 3 days per week (potential for more) including Sundays.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Retail Operations on a day-to-day basis- brief and lead the team and deal with problems as they arise. Confidently open, close and cash up.
- Deliver and oversee excellent customer service across the shop, deli, and cheese room.
- Confidently advise customers on produce, cheeses, and deli products, including pairings and storage.
- Handle queries and resolve problems in a professional, solutions-focused way.
- Focus on the deli, cheese room and fresh produce areas as a speciality. Maintaining excellent hygiene and quality standards, liaising with chefs and suppliers and training the in-store team.
- Assist the Retail Manager with seasonal stock selection, mechanising and creative displays.
Essential Skills and Experience
- A strong knowledge of food, drink and seasonal produce.
- Previous retail, deli, or hospitality supervisory environment.
- Experience managing stock production for deli or fresh food environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Organised, proactive, and hands-on approach.
- Friendly and approachable with strong communication skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate a small team.
- Flexibility to work regular weekend and Bank Holiday shifts.
Desirable
- Strong knowledge of British cheese, butchery and deli produce.
- Deli counter and cheese experience.
- Food hygiene qualifications.
