As we continue to grow and expand, we are now launching a new butchers counter and are seeking an experienced and passionate Butcher to lead this exciting new venture.
Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Butcher to lead and manage our new butchers counter, providing expert cuts of local meats and ensuring the highest standards of product quality, presentation, and customer service. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about local, ethically sourced produce and is eager to play a key role in expanding our offering within the farm shop.
As the head of the butchers counter, you will work closely with the rest of the team to ensure that the counter complements our existing selection of farm-fresh produce, offering a premium service to our loyal customers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leading the Butchers Counter: Oversee the day-to-day operation of the counter, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Meat Preparation & Cutting: Expertly prepare and cut a range of local meats to order, ensuring excellent presentation and the best quality cuts.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all products sold, including provenance, cooking methods, and special offers.
• Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers with their meat selections, offering advice on preparation, and creating bespoke orders where necessary.
• Stock Management: Ensure the counter is well-stocked, order new stock as needed, and manage stock rotation to maintain freshness.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, health, and safety in accordance with food safety regulations.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the farm shop team to ensure that the butcher’s counter integrates seamlessly with the overall store offering.
• Training & Development: Help train and mentor new team members, sharing your expertise and passion for butchery.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience: Proven experience as a butcher, with a strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation, and customer service.
• Passion for Local Produce: A genuine interest in locally sourced, ethically raised meat and sustainable farming practices.
• Leadership: Experience in leading or managing a team is advantageous, as you’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the counter.
• Customer-Focused: Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to provide tailored advice and build strong customer relationships.
• Attention to Detail: High standards of work, cleanliness, and organization.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work 45 hours per week, including weekends, to meet the needs of the business.
• Qualifications: A formal qualification in butchery or related experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
