The Barn Kitchen- Weekend Trainee Chef/ Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for someone to join our weekend kitchen team from end of August/ start of September 2024.

Job description:

Sociable daytime hours Saturday and Sunday usually between 8am and 5pm. Some Friday nights may be required 5pm-10pm
Work within a friendly, supportive kitchen team
Cooking from scratch using high quality local and seasonal ingredients
Busy breakfast and lunchtime services to build service and plating skills
Opportunity to get involved with pastry, desserts and afternoon teas
Learn to cook outside using our BBQ, smoker and pizza oven
Hourly rate of pay dependent on experience plus tips

Candidate profile:

Prior kitchen experience would be beneficial but not essential.
A proven interest in cooking, especially using seasonal ingredients.
Eager to work hard and learn from our chefs.
A positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
Must be available to work at least one weekend day from September.

This is the ideal role for a catering college student looking to gain experience in the work place, someone interested in a move towards catering or a more experienced candidate looking for part-time work.

The Barn Kitchen- Supervisors

We are currently recruiting for Full Time Supervisors in the Barn Kitchen.

This role involves working weekend days.

Excellent rates of pay starting at £12 per hour plus tips and employee benefits across the business including discounts, parties and free fitness classes.

Extremely sociable daytime hours with just occasional evenings required (maximum one per week).

This role will involve ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Barn Kitchen and managing the Front of House team. There will also be the opportunity to get involved with a variety of events held on the farm.

Candidate Profile:

At least two years restaurant experience ideally with supervisor/managerial experience.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized and great multi-tasker, unflappable under pressure.
IT Skills including Reservation Systems.
A passion for seasonal top quality food and drink, and brimming with creative ideas to bring to the table.
A great team player.
